Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kenes village, South Aral region. I.M. Abdazimova in 1996. Boreholes. Stratotype - section of well 25G, 16 km north-northeast of Kenes village.

Synonym: Kenesskaya Suite, Кенесская св.

Lithology and Thickness

Sands, sandstones, clays, siltstone (aleurolites) gray-colored, in the upper part mottled with gravelite layers, rounded clay pebbles, large phosphorite and glauconite grains. Thickness 70-206m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies, sometimes with signs of erosion, the Uzunkuduk Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain by the Shakhman Fm.

Contains marine bivalve mollusks - Leda exilisa Burk., Linotrigonia Spinosa subovata Lyc., L. aculeata Burk., Corbula infrequens Burk.; foraminifera - Trochamminoides cenomanicus (Zhuk.), Trochammina ex gr. kugitangensis N. Byk.; spores and pollen - Selaginella Granata Bolch. (1-2), Klukisporites visibilis Bolch. (0.5-1), Foveosporites cenomanicus (Chl.) Shv. (0.5-1), Taurocusporites reduncus (Bolch.) Stov. (5-23), Stenozonotriletes radiatus Chl. (1-5), Gleicheniidites senonicus Ross. (4-12), Ornamentifera echinata Bolch. (0.5-1), Classopollis classoides Pf. (3-20), Tricolpites sp. (8-14).
